"Faith Comes By Hearing"

One of our church goals is that we should become a people of Faith motivated through the regular 'hearing' of God's Word. You can listen to the whole New Testament in a year's time. This can be accomplished by purchasing and listening to a Bible on CD program, or by simply reading the Word of God out aloud. Eaxch week we will assign that week's passage and a memory verse for the week.

Week 1 (Jan 19-25): Assigned passage: John 1-5. Memory Verse: John 1:1-2 "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning."

Week 2 (Jan 26-Feb 2): Assigned Passage: John 6. Memory Verse: John 6:35 "Then Jesus declared, "I am the bread of life. He who believes in me will never go hungry, and he who believes in me will never be thirsty."

Week 3 (Feb 2-8): Assigned Passage: John 11-15. Memory Verse: John 11:25-26 "Jesus said to her, 'I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies; and whoever lives and believes in me will never die. Do you believe this?"

Week 4 (Feb 9-15): Assigned Passage: John 16-21. Memory Verse: John 20:31 "But these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the son of God, and that by believing you may have life in His name."

Week 5 (Feb 16-22): Assigned Passage:1, 2 & 3 John. Memory Verse: 1 John 4:7-8 "Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is Love."

Week 6 (Feb 23-Mar 1): Assigned Passage: Mark 1-5. Memory Verse: Mark 1:17 "Come, follow me", Jesus said, "and I will make you fishers of men."

 Week 7 (Mar 2-8): Assigned passage: Mark 6-10. Memory Verse: Mark 10:45 "For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many."

Week 8 (Mar 9-15): Assigned Passage: Mark 11-16. Memory Verse: Mark 11:24 "Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours".

 Week 9 (Mar 16-22): Assigned Passage: Acts: 1-5. Memory Verse: Acts 1: 8 "But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth".

Week 10 (Mar 23-29): Assigned Passage: Acts: 6-10. Memory Verse: Acts 4:32 "All the believers were one in heart and mind. No one claimed that any of his possessions were his own, but they shared everything that they had".

 Week 11 (Mar 30-April 5): Assigned Passage: Acts: 11-16. Memory Verse: Acts 16:31 "They replied, 'Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved - you and your household'".

Week 12 (Apr 6-12): Assigned Passage: Acts: 17-23. Memory Verse: Acts 17:28 ""For in Him we live and move and have our being." As some of your own poets have said, "We are His offspring"".

Week 13 (Apr 13-19): Assigned Passage: Acts: 24-28. Memory Verse: Acts 28:28 "Therefore, I want you to know that God's salvation has been sent to the Gentiles, and they will listen. "

Week 14 (Apr 20-26): Assigned Passage: James 1-5. Memory Verse: James 1:5 "If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him. "

Week 15 (Apr 27-May 3): Assigned Passage: Romans 1-5. Memory Verse: Romans 1:6 "I am not ashamed of the Gospel, because it is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes: first for the Jew, then for the Gentile. "

Week 16 (May 4-10): Assigned Passage: Romans 6-10. Memory Verse: Romans 8:38-39 "For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all of creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord."

Week 17 (May 11-17): Assigned Passage: Romans 11-16. Memory Verse: Romans 12:1-2 "Therefore, I urge you brothers, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God - this is your spiritual act of worship. Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is - his good, pleasing and perfect will."

Week 18 (May 18-24): Assigned Passage: Galatians 1-6. Memory Verse: Gal 5:16 "So I say, live by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the sinful nature."

Week 19 (May 25-31): Assigned Passage: Ephesians 1-6. Memory Verse: Eph 2:10 "For we are God's workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do."

Week 20 (June 1-7): Assigned Passage: Phillipians & Philemon. Memory Verse: Phil 4:4 "Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice!"

Week 21 (June 8-14): Assigned Passage: Colossians & Jude. Memory Verse: Col 3:23 "Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men."

Week 22 (June  15-21): Assigned Passage: 1 Corinthians 1 to 5. Memory Verse: 1Cor 1:8 "He will keep you strong to the end, so that you will be blameless on the day of our Lord Jesus Christ."

Week 23 (June 22-28): Assigned Passage: 1 Corinthians 6-10. Memory Verse: 1Cor 10:31 "So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God."

Week 24 (June 29-July 5): Assigned Passage: 1 Corinthians 11-16. Memory Verse: 1Cor 15:57 "But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ."

Week 25 (July 6-12): Assigned Passage: 2 Corinthians 1-5.  Memory Verse: 2 Cor 5:17 "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!"

Week 27 (July  20-26): Assigned Passage: 2 Corinthians 6-10. Memory Verse: 2 Cor 8:7 "But just as you excel in everything - in faith, in speech, in knowledge, in complete earnestness and in your love for us - see that you also excel in this grace of giving."

Week 28 (July 27-Aug 2): Assigned Passage: 2 Corinthians 11-13, Mathew 1-3. Memory Verse: 2 Cor 12:9 "But he said to me, 'My Grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness'"

Week 29 (Aug 3-9): Assigned Passage: Mathew 4-8. Memory Verse: Mathew 7:7-8 "Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened."

Week 30 (Aug 10-16): Assigned Passage: Mathew 9-13. Memory Verse: Mathew 9:37-38 "Then he said to his disciples, 'The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.'"

Week 31 (Aug 17-23): Assigned Passage: Mathew 14-18. Memory Verse: Mathew 16:24-26 "Then Jesus said to his disciples, 'If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for me he will find it. What good will it be for a man if he gains the whole world, yet forfeits his soul? Or what can a man give in exchange for his soul?'"

Week 32 (Aug 24-30): Assigned Passage: Mathew 19-23. Memory Verse: Mathew 22:37-40 "Jesus replied: 'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind'. This is the first and greatest commandment. And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself'. All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments."

Week 33: (Aug 31-Sept 6): Assigned Passage: Mathew 24-28. Memory Verse: Mathew 28:18-20 "All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age."

Week 34: (Sept 7-13): Assigned Passage: 1 Peter. Memory Verse: 1 Peter 2:9 "But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people belonging to God, that you may declare the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light."

Week 35: (Sept 14-20): Assigned Passage: 2 Peter & Titus. Memory Verse: 2 Peter 1:3 "His divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness through our knowledge of Him who called us by His own glory and goodness."

Week 36: (Sep 21-27): Assigned Passage: 1 Timothy. Memory Verse: 1 Timothy 6:6 "But godliness with contentment is great gain."

Week 37: (Sep 28-Oct 4): Assigned Passage: 2 Timothy. Memory Verse: 2 Timothy 2:2 "And the things you have heard me say in the presence of many witnesses entrust to reliable men who will also be qualified to teach others."

Week 38: (Oct 5-11): Assigned Passage: Hebrews 1-5. Memory Verse: Hebrews 4:12 "For the Word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart."

Week 39: (Oct 12-18): Assigned Passage: Hebrews 6-10. Memory Verse: Hebrews 10:25 "Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another - and all the more as you see the Day approaching."

Week 40 (Oct 19-25): Assigned Passage: Hebrews 11-13 & Rev 1-3. Memory Verse: Hebrews11:6 "And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to Him must believe that He exists and that He rewards those who earnestly seek Him."

Week 41 (Oct 26-Nov 1): Assigned Passage: Rev 4-9. Memory Verse: Rev 3:20 "Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with him, and he with me."

Week 42 (Nov 2-8): Assigned Passage: Rev 10-15. Memory Verse: Rev 12:11 "They overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by their word of their testimony; they did not love their lives so much as to shrink from death."

Week 43 (Nov 9-15): Assigned Passage: Rev 16-22. Memory Verse: Rev 21:4 "He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away."

Week 44 (Nov 16-22): Assigned Passage: 1 Thessalonians. Memory Verse: 1 Thess 5:23-24 "May God himself, the God of peace, sanctify you through and through. May your whole spirit, soul and body be kept blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. The one who calls you is faithful and He will do it."

Week 45 (Nov 23-29): Assigned Passage: 2 Thessalonians. Memory Verse: 2 Thess 3:5 "May the Lord direct your hearts into God's love and Christ's perseverance."

Week 46 (Nov 30-Dec 6): Assigned Passage: Luke 1-5. Memory Verse: Luke 4:8 "Jesus answered, 'It is written: Worship the Lord your God and serve Him only'."

Week 47 (Dec 7-13): Assigned Passage: Luke 6-10. Memory Verse: Luke 9:62 "Jesus replied, 'No one who puts his hand to the plow and looks back is fit for service in the Kingdom of God'."

Week 48 (Dec 14- 20): Assigned Passage: Luke 11-15. Memory Verse: Luke 15:7 "I tell you that in the same way there will be more rejoicing in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who do not need to repent."

Week 49 (Dec 21-27): Luke 16-20. Memory Verse: Luke 19:46 "It is written", He said to them, "My house will be a house of prayer but you have made it a den of robbers".

Week 50 (Dec 28): Luke 21-24. Memory Verse: Luke 21:33 "Heaven and earth will pass away but my words will never pass away".
